Big night in USL - PDL-land as all top three went competing for top spot in the Mid South Division.First result came in with a thumping 5-1 victory for El Paso Patriots on the road against New Orleans Jesters which temporarily lifted the West Texas side back into second spot due to the Austin Aztex later kickoff.
In tonight's other massive match, leaders Laredo Heat, who have remained unbeaten in the league since opening day against Texas Dutch Lions and have not been scored against in the previous four matches, travelled to House Park in Austin as the Aztex looked to break a five game streak without a victory.
In the leagues previous two meetings between the two, Laredo had left with all six points but Austin managed to get themselves back on track tonight with a 1-0 win.
Laredo stay in top spot in the league with 19 points, Austin moved back into second on 17, El Paso are also on 17 points but drop to third on goal difference.
Saturday evening sees El Paso with the chance to take top spot as they take on Texas Dutch Lions at Woodforest Bank Stadium. With Laredo not playing until Sunday, El Paso must surely go out with all guns blazing to take the points and slip up the table at Laredo's expense.
The Lions for their own part must go out and win to lift themselves from bottom spot, that seems to change on a game by game basis over the past week or so.
The league ain't finished if tonight's results are anything to go by!
